I have had the chance to ride in almost a hundred racing cars during my career, and now have the pleasure of being able to say that the number of Lamborghini I have been able to take in hand has increased to two!

I was very excited to find the bucket of a car used on the Super Trofeo championship, after a first experience in 2011. This time, I had to try to understand the capabilities of the new version of the Lamborghini Huracan Evo.

Since the last time, the championship has gained enormously in maturity: eight seasons after my last experience of the professionalism of Lamborghini, here is another car really accomplished, sophisticated, and above all seriously fast.

It's hard not to notice Lamborghini's push into the world of GT racing lately. The Italian brand is rubbing shoulders with the prestigious names of Ferrari, Porsche and Mercedes, and I was really curious to understand how Lamborghini approached its own program to stand out in such a competitive environment.

During my first experience with the Lamborghini Super Trofeo, the championship was still relatively in its early stages. I shared my time in the cockpit of the Gallardo LP560-4 with professional driver Marino Franchitti, during a support race for the FIA GT1 World Championship, on the Silverstone track in its Grand Prix version. The car was rudimentary, in terms of racing capabilities. It was certainly phenomenal in the straights (which is always convenient at Silverstone) but a good part of the technology was still too fair for use in racing conditions. Besides, the Gallardo was not a very reliable car. The electrical system of our car had failed us during the last race of the weekend and that of Peter Cox had caught fire at the exit of Copse!

It is clear that Lamborghini has worked very hard since these first days of learning high level competition in GT. The level of technological sophistication, almost a decade later, is spectacular and beyond the level of the pilots, which rises more and more each season, the cars produced are now true competition machines, just waiting to swallow circuit.

In this, the Huracan is anything but a disappointment! His competition pedigree is indisputable. Find out in our full video test!
